Stephan Meinberg is an improviser and composer based in Hamburg / Germany with many experiences in a lot of different musical languages. Together with his fellow musicians Stephan Meinberg likes to invent surprising and emotionally rich musical stories. With his band ViTAMiNE and with collective groups Arnie Bolden, moLd and Heelium he has released 7 CDs, as well as participating in a large variety of many more CD- and radio-productions as a sideman.

Stephan Meinberg has played with jazz musicians Charlie Mariano, Günter „Baby“ Sommer, Han Bennink, Dave Liebman, George Garzone, Gary Thomas, Chris Speed, Matthias Schubert, Rick Margitza, Dieter Glawischnig, Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky, Emil Mangelsdorff, Hans Reichel, Dieter Manderscheid, Christoph Haberer, Henning Berg, Frank Gratkowski, with Nils-Wogram-Septett, Cnirbs, Andre Nendza A-Tronic, Wolfgang-Schmidtke-Ensemble feat. Peter Brötzmann, North-German-Radio-Bigband (conducted by Maria Schneider, Bob Brookmeyer, Michael Gibbs, Steve Gray, etc.), as well as playing with many Salsa-, Funk- & Drum’n Bass-groups plus numerous european-classical ensembles from Renaissance- to 21st-century-music.

Stephan Meinberg studied european classical music in Luebeck, thereafter jazz in Cologne and did an additional year of studies at the New School University, New York with a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
