Art Ensemble Syd & friends on Skandaløs Festival 2017

Art Ensemble Syd is playing at the german music Festival, Skandaløs Festival!

August 5, 2017 (21:45-23:00)

On Skandaløs festival the ensemble will play music by the ensembles leading figures Niels Præstholm and Simon Spang-Hanssen. Spang-Hanssen music is based on jazz with influences from Brazil, West-Africa,the Carribean, r&b, funk. The ensemble will be accompanied by new talent, singer Claudia Campagnol.

The press wrote:

‘The ensemble can play both subtle and abstract, focusing on the texture of their instruments with a funky, intimate groove. A band for both feet and brains.’

First Symposium

First symposium for jazz and improvised music in Sønderjylland/Schleswig-Holstein

May 14, 2017, an international jazzsymposium will take place in Sønderborg. German and danish musicians will meet and discuss music and the conditions for jazz and impovised music in the region.

The symposium precedes a new german-danish jazzfestival, opening later this year. The jazzfestival is a result of a collaboration between Lothar Baur from Flensburg and Niels Præstholm from Sønderborg . ”We hope to create an inspiring platform for new music related projects across the border” Præstholm explains.

The arrangement is closed to the public.
